| - The name is interesting in itself "Cowfish," as it hints that it serves both steak and seafood.
I was in Charlotte for business and my BF and I wanted to come here as it is the most reviewed restaurant in the city. We specifically went for sushi, although they have tons of menu items to choose from.
The restaurant is very large with a full bar. It's located next door to a mall and right off a busy street. We dined on a Monday evening and was overwhelmed with the menu. This place has everything from burgers to steaks to sandwiches to sushi, including their infamous "BurgSushi" creations which fuses burgers and sushi together. They have sushi with burger meat inside, and they'll make a burger out of sushi ingredients. However you can imagine to mix burgers and sushi, this place managed to do it.
We started off with an enormous serving of calamari which was pretty average. The sweet chilli sauce was not a great dip to go with the calamari. If the restaurant could get their hands on a chipotle aioli sauce, it would be game over.
I ordered the recommended Taste Explosion ($15) which is one of their BurgSushi items, made up of Angus ground beef, applewood bacon, jalapeƱos, spicy mayo inside, coated with tempura flakes. Topped with tomato and cheese, and drizzled with pesto. It truly was a taste explosion. Something very different and unique, and delicious at the same time.
My boyfriend got a couple of "normal" sushi rolls which were also delicious. I sipped on a China Blossom martini which was also delightful with the meal.
This was a wonderful place to grab dinner no matter what you're craving. This is the perfect place for a group of people that have a wide range of palettes. Unlike most sushi restaurants, if you don't like sushi, you're not just confined to a bento box which is great. Definitely would come back again if I were to find myself back in Charlotte for work.
