  • Imagine being on the road about six hours driving from Los Angeles to your destination, Tempe, AZ. You have made a hotel reservation and called to inquire about early check-in. You are told that as long as a room is available you can check in early. You arrive at the hotel with your family around 11:30 pm & speak with the front desk agent, Alan T. The agent tells you how many more guests they are expecting and that you should come back down after midnight and if your room type is free, they will check you in. Upon your return, there is a new agent at the desk, Danielle. Danielle's demeanor is not as pleasant as Alan. You fill her in on the details of the conversation you had with Alan, and her first comment is "He wouldn't say that". Hmm, so you are calling your guest a liar??? She texts Alan, he calls and tells her a different story, he meant 12 noon. I tell her that's not what he said, and why would he give me details on the number of guests left to check in if he didn't mean midnight? I called my sister who was also staying, she came down and gave her version of the conversation that she was present for (matched exactly what I said). I asked her to call Alan back and she said she couldn't because he told her "I'm off" So after some back and forth I acquiesce and decide to get an extra night. Now the price for the night is higher than what I booked for. Less than 5 minutes after my booking, I changed my mind. Didn't want to stay there, or give this establishment my money after the less than accommodating treatment and crappy customer service. I go back to Danielle and tell her I want to cancel. What do you think is the first thing out of her mouth?? We can't do that, you have to give 24 hours notice. Your card has already been charged. Well it's kinda hard to give 24 hour notice for a booking made 5 minutes ago and there's always a way to refund a card. She called her manager and miraculously got the impossible done. Needless to say their "Hometown hospitality" slogan is complete BS. What a horrible experience this was!!
