I'd advise to forgo the Greyhound bus. I took it out of necessity because I ruptured my eardrum and could not fly. The three successive times which I have or was going to ride a greyhound bus have individually been pretty poor experiences. The first was a bus from Boston to NY. The ride itself was ok, though the bus's heat system malfunctioned and the heat was on full blast the whole way. This would have been more tolerable if the bus was not an hour late. This first experience does not compare to my second, this being on the bus from NY to Pittsburgh. The bus was scheduled to leave at 11PM and sure enough we began boarding at 10:40PM which surprised me. What ended up happening however was that after the passengers got onto the bus we heard some disconcerting banging coming from below the bus. We, the passengers, figured that perhaps there was an issue with the bus that Greyhound was trying to fix. Unbeknownst to us at the time, however, the banging was actually the bus driver who was pushed into and locked in the cargo hold. Eventually he called 911 and the police came to get him out. So we then had to wait an extra hour and a half while they found another driver. This incident really did give me a bad feeling about riding the bus that I will be unlikely to shake anytime soon. This meant that when it came time to go back to Boston from Pittsburgh I did not hesitate to purchase a plane ticket after I arrived for my 10:30PM bus which was promptly cancelled. The next bus was at 6:30am so I thought better of it. In essence, I will stress that you should probably either try another bus line or drive yourself if you want to go somewhere. I would advise you only to take the Greyhound out of necessity like I did, and if you do, be prepared for it to be late or something strange to happen.
