| - I've been to Las Vegas about a dozen times and regularly stay at the Palazzo/Ventian, but for some reason I've never tried their Canyon Ranch SpaClub. I had no idea what I was missing!
My family and I stayed at the Palazzo over the Christmas holiday and I booked an appointment for a Foot Rescue/3 C's Pedicure at Canyon Ranch. When you book a spa service, one-day entrance to the gym and group classes plus entrance to Aquavana are included. The gym had a good choice of machines plus a rock climbing wall, but I skipped the strenuous stuff and tried a morning Pilates class. It was fantastic! The instructor, CiCi (given name Sue, I think), was both energetic and conscientious in making sure everyone was keeping up and doing the exercises properly. I'm not an avid Pilates/Yoga student, but I've tried out a few different classes and this one seemed to have unique tips, moves and insights. Cici also used props that I'd never encountered in a class before, such as this wheel balancing thing. :p I would love to take another class with her again. After the session, I felt completely loose and relaxed and ready for the spa.
Aquavana was a therapeutic, multi experience spa similar to a Korean bathhouse, with an herbal steam room, dry sauna, hot and cold pools, and aromatherapy showers. The wet areas were segregated by gender and you could be either nude, in a towel or in a bathing suit. There was also a co-ed dry area with a room-temp salt room and cool-temp wave room (much more relaxing than I though it would be). I was there for about two hours and wish I had allowed for three! The only issue I encountered was that the steam room (my favorite room) stopped working while I was using it. The changing rooms were stocked with necessities and the showers with high-quality products. The only downside I can imagine is that it could get crowded going during peak season or peak hours.
After dragging myself out of Aquavana to my pedicure appointment, I was introduced to Vicki, a very sweet and friendly woman who was quite knowledgeable about her field. She gave me one of the best exfoliating pedicures of my life. (Note: There was no nail polish included, but that was not the target of this particular pedicure.) She sloughed off all the travel-cracked, rough, dead skin on my feet. I should call her miracle worker! When I go back again to Las Vegas, I will definitely be booking another Foot Rescue with her.
