  • What can I say about the WGW apart from the fact its one of the best events that someone into the g scene can attend, I've been going for 6 years and this October's even was one of the best I've been to. On the Friday and Saturday evenings the Spa Pavilion holds an evening of bands and djs. Highlights for me were Specimen on the Friday, a real old school band that I never thought I'd see, and they really did act like the headliners they were. The following night, I was really looking forwards to it as two of the bands that I've seen before and loved were on, the first was Voltaire, that man deserves to be the headliner of this soon as he is never on for long enough. He was followed by Wayne Hussey, who was mindblowingly brilliant, despite forgetting some of the words, which we can let him off as he did stay up there for around 80 minutes. If dancing is your thing then the djs after the bands will be sure to keep you on your feet. If money is tight, and we all know the Spa tickets can be expensive, there is always plenty of other events on, both official fringe events and non official, Whitby is such a beautiful place that its easy to just spend time relaxing in one of the fab pubs, or an evening stroll around gazing at the old town shops. Whitby is essentially what you make it, whether you want a quiet one or a busy one, there's something for everyone. Just make sure you bring your credit card for all the shopping- that will follow in another review as there's just too much to say!
