  • The show "Cupcake Wars" has lost all credibility with me! Perhaps today was an "off" day for the Coffee Shop, or perhaps the judges on the show just have bad taste, but I find it hard to believe this place won $10,000 for their cupcakes! After seeing this place on tv, we were in the area today and decided to stop in. The staff wasn't bad, but not good either, and they seem to be bothered and annoyed by customers, rather than grateful we are keeping them in a job! On our visit today, there were about 7 or 8 flavors to choose from (however, as a chocoholic, I was disappointed there was only chocolate coconut and a not really chocolate, cookie dough cupcake!). We decided to try a few out, since none of the flavors were really that enticing. We got Vanilla Glam, which seemed to be vanilla cupcake with cherry frosting, Lemon Glam, Lemon Raspberry and the Cookie Dough. All of them were very, very disappointing, borderline gross! The frostings, with the exception of the Lemon Raspberry, were ok but a bit on the sweet side and way too much artificial flavoring and coloring. The Lemon Raspberry however was grainy and had a very bad after taste. The cupcakes themselves however were awful! They had a very heavy, dense texture, and they were pretty dry to boot! And for 4 different flavors, they all had a very similiar taste, the very slight exception being the Raspberry had 2 small bits and the cookie dough with had 2 tiny bits of "chocolate". I'm not sure what they used for chocolate but it tasted cheap and artifical, and not at all like a chocolate chip. The cupcakes were bad enough as it was, but then the added sting of $12.85 for 4 of them made it even worse. I will stick with homemade or grocery store cupcakes!
