  • 4.5 years @ Andara, way too long. I've lived in both assisted living and independent living over 2 decades. Senior Lifestyle Corp. is by far the worst management company of all I've encountered; corporate narcissism is at a sickening level which transcends to the onsite management. 5 different onsite executive directors and the newest is the worst example I've experienced anywhere. Her narcissistic power-trip, egotistical and condescending attitude is what both residents and employees are the most upset with. I attempted to discuss an ongoing very serious safety issue with her and was met with a derogatory tone and insulting innuendos, a taped conversation that's quite amazing to listen to. Many of the elderly have had to endure the same treatment. The resident council is also troubled by her behavior and attitude. Search and read about Narcissistic Personality Disorder; hits the nail on the head. The safety issue has increased dramatically with total disregard under the new executive director's oversight. This safety issue is a lot of the reason my doctor wrote a medical release letter to negate my lease allowing me to move. Andara's food is a constant complaint by residents because they use a Sysco institutional food program, quality is definitely lacking; I bought and cooked my own food. Never enough servers and the dining room is too small to seat the capacity of residents, long wait times to be seated for dinner. Incompetent maintenance directors; the newest current maintenance director genius quit shortly after I moved out on 11/4. Very disorganized maintenance, long wait for repairs, also high turnover in maintenance workers, sometimes they're smarter and more capable than the directors. Every apt. includes a safe in the closet, due to very careless management control of the master pass code it was made available to hourly maintenance workers so a few months ago one of them decided to go on a crime spree robbing safes of thousands in cash and jewelry to support a cocaine habit. It was as much or more management's fault as the thief's. He was caught and arrested at Andara with cocaine on him and in his vehicle; quite a spectacle. Always under staffed; employees constantly quitting in all depts.; many times there's an exodus of walkouts and temp services must be brought in. I've never seen such a high turnover anywhere. Bad reputation in the area as an employer and I question their hiring practices; a maintenance man in a casual conversation with me bragged he was a convicted felon...for rape, shocked I searched his name and sure enough, reported it to H.R., they were shocked. Supposed to do background checks and not hire felons? Search: Senior Lifestyle Corporation complaints and view employee ratings on indeed.com and glassdoor.com. And now for the good; I liked my apt. and the convenient location. As a disabled 62 year old empathetic man, I am heartbroken to have had to experience the elderly being mistreated and lied to at Andara. The upfront hype and promises are a total misrepresentation of the reality. A truthful and honest review and opinion by a former resident. Note: If you're not aware already, many positive online reviews are planted to boost ratings, also keep in mind who authors most of the positive reviews; not the residents, but the family members that "dumped" them there.
