This rendition of the Second Cup is very close to the Holiday Inn hotel where I'm staying and it's open till 11:00pm so that makes it a decent place to go to work/study/read in the area. It's right against the U Toronto campus so that's convenient too. Several seats have nearby plugs and there are a variety of seating options (bar-type, comfy chairs, booth seats, "kitchen" chairs). Decent layout and well-lit too.
As many of you know the coffee here is not good. Not terrible, but even below Starbucks quality I'd say...and I'm no fan of that either. The bathroom here is totally sketchy and they need to buzz you in to use it. That's probably because several homeless people seem to hang out here on a regular basis rendering the nearby seats unusable to anybody with a nose. The music is terrible, worse than even other Second Cups it seems...distracting, annoying, dated, and unpleasant. So bring headphones.
Bottom line: this place serves its purpose and just barely.
