| - We took a group of ten and ordered virtually every appetizer on the menu. The cauliflower, macaroni, fig toast, hummus, and brussels spouts were pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the bone marrow or pigs ears (though the guy sitting to my left was). The caprese was ok (my wife really liked it, though). The bread part of the caprese was burnt and too hard in my opinion.
If all we'd gotten were appetizers and it hadn't taken 30 minutes to get them, it would be a four-star review.
However, and just speaking for my main course, it was nasty. The waiter did a good job selling me on the special--a portion of the 75 lb. pig they'd just roasted. They brought me a pile of pork, yes, but it was cold and very grisly. I couldn't eat more than a couple of pieces. Very disappointing.
The atmosphere was also very loud, and although the waiter knows the menu well, he spoke too fast and in a rote fashion--clearly a result of having repeated the same thing too many times, so between that and the loud background (music in addition to other people), we had to ask him to repeat himself several times.
I guess when you spend over $800 on a meal, you expect the food and service to be excellent.
