| - Watch out for these guys. Very slippery operators. Our basement drain backed up, and I made the mistake of calling New Canadian Drain & Plumbing. Their "drain technician" charged me $200 to put a camera down the drain, and said we needed to replace our outside trap, at a cost of $2,200. When I asked if it could simply be pumped out, he completely dismissed the idea. Even though I didn't commit to the $2,200 job, he spray-painted a glaring fluorescent orange line on the driveway to mark the location of the trap. The next day, I was able to connect with a trusted plumber that my in-laws have dealt with for years. (Unfortunately, we hadn't been able to reach him right away.) He opened the outside trap, stuck in a snake, yanked on it a few times, and it was cleared. He fixed the problem in about 10 minutes without setting foot in the house -- all for $200. No cameras, no B.S. And contrary to what "Charlotte" says below, it's been fine ever since. Again, be careful. These folks plant a lot of bogus "reviews." "Charlotte" may be one of them.
