  • My sweetest baby died about 3 weeks ago and all I can think about was how the vet treated me in those critical moments. She was a 5 year old Golden Retriever, Named Georgia. Georgia had been sick the entire month of March with which I brought her to the vet 3 times. She was not eating, vomiting, excessively drinking water and urinating, and more (clearly something was not okay). Every time I would explain she's not okay, I received a "no she seems totally fine to us." Fast forward to the third vet trip where an outside vet did an ultra sound and said her kidneys were enlarged and she needs to be seen immediately. After lab results, I was seen by a Monroe vet who said "her kidneys levels are a little abnormal. We'd like for you to take her to CARE for an overnight visit." That's it. The severity was not explained to me and they sent in a tech to ask what option I wanted. I REPEATEDLY asked to talk to the vet again because it all of a sudden felt more severe than what she had said. A different tech comes in and I have to ask AGAIN to talk to the vet. Finally after 4 attempts the vet comes in and I, yes myself, have to probe to understand what is going on with Georgia. I asked if it was kidney failure and if Georgia could die. Only then did she say yes. I have never felt so disrespected in my entire life that my baby was dying and she didn't outright tell me how severe this truly was. I did my part by bringing her to the vet 3 separate times in a months span. Georgia attended the CARE emergency vet and died 3 days later of leptospirosis. Had it been caught when I brought her to the vet the first time, all she would have needed was antibiotics. Monroe never called me to check in and see how she was doing or call to offer their condolences. They sent me a card with a PRINTED piece of paper expressing their apologies. If you've ever lost your child, you'll understand that a printed piece of cutout paper feels wildly insincere and does more harm than sending anything at all. Overall, I am extremely hurt by how the vet handled my entire situation and made me feel during the lowest point of my life. I lost my best friend, my child, and they didn't seem to even care. They refused to be open and honest and provide support when she was dying. They didn't catch this and Georgia is now gone. Beyond all else, I understand sometimes things can't be caught, but the way I was treated continues to weigh on my chest. Had i brought Georgia to a different vet, she may still be with us today. And even if it couldn't have been detected, I'm sure they would have treated me with more respect and honesty. P.S. CARE emergency was everything Monroe Rd. Was not. The vet was incredibly honest and sincere. They took care of Georgia with white gloves and did all they could, but it was simply too late. When Georgia passed, they sent me a book "When Dogs go to Heaven," and each person took time to write a message in the book. This is how you should be treated in the most difficult moments of your entire life. I did not write this review immediately to ensure I could reflect on my emotions and write a truthful review.
