| - We stayed at the SLS over Christmas this year and I decided Cleo would be where we would enjoy Christmas dinner. I made reservations the morning of through Open Table and while all time slots showed as still available, was beyond pleased later, that we had done so.
We checked in with a bit of hassle, primarily because the restaurant opens directly on to the casino floor and there was only one hostess. We had to wait an additional 20 mins for our table and found it very awkward as we essentially were taking up a walkway around the casino floor.
We were seated at a table for two in the back of the restaurant. We enjoyed the decor and the cooking station in the center of the restaurant is a nice feature. I had read through the menu online and so already knew what to order. My husband wasn't familiar with Mediterranean food and so I nicely got ordering control after outlining dishes to him. The alcohol menu didn't match what we were looking for and so I ordered just a lemongrass lemonade after seeing it listed in a cocktail. This turned out to be a $7 drink, so watch out for that.
We started with the cucumber and yogurt (tzatziki essentially), spicy potatoes, and chicken kebab. The orders were nicely spaced out and we loved everything. The fresh pita was amazing as well, though served a bit too hot to touch. For an entree, we split the grilled hangar steak. This took about 20 minutes after our mezze's to come out, which was a bit irritating, but overall worth the wait. The steak was very tender and I liked the spoon salad. We added on a side of the pickles and I was very pleased with the fact that they were instead spicy pickled carrots, celery, and various colours of cauliflower, instead of cucumber.
Service was very good, though spotty at times, and we also had a buser exclusively for our table, who was excellent. Our water glasses were never empty and we never had a used dish on our table. That was excellent to see after some of the earlier Yelp reviews, that they needed to work on this.
Per our SLS stay, we had a $40 resort credit to use, which left us actually owing very little. This has been our favorite Vegas meal since coming together for 5 years and I definitely can't wait to come back. It has also allowed me to cook some of these dishes at home without a nose turn-up. Success!
