Agreeing with Martin and Irina's comments, it's a little local place and just look beyond the very simple set-up and aesthetic to discover the best Filipino breads I know I've ever had.
This is actually their bakery location and their pretty shop is on Burnamthorpe, so it explains the basic aesthetic here.
I have enjoyed their ensaymada (sweet buns with butter, sugar and cheese) for the past few years - it's my favourite by far, especially when it's warm! Go in the mornings! I once picked up their party size tray (such a great deal and perfect for a BBQ, party - I ordered this one for a work event and heads up that if you're doing this, you have to order at least 2 days in advance. Needless to say, everyone at work went berserk for it). I've also had their Spanish Bread (yumm) and pandesal (I could finish half a package in one sitting).
I do call ahead of time to make sure they have ensaymada because they go fast. If they're out, I just pre-order for the next day.
I picked up some buns yesterday in the mid-afternoon, and luckily they had just made a fresh batch so she was so incredibly sweet to send me off with fresh buns versus the ones that were made in the morning.
Also good to note that you should bring exact change or have a mix of coins/bills because they don't have cash on the premises - they focus this location on the bakery operation whereas the Burnamthorpe location is more the pretty shop to peruse and purchase items.
These people are great. The baked goods are amazing (especially when they're fresh of course) and the staff is warm, thoughtful and accommodating. It's definitely a gem worth trying.
