This is a review of Sunnybooke Emergency current as of spring 2018. My family and I have been using this service for over 30 years. Back in the day, this Emergency room was "the best kept secret" in the province. This was because the hospital had the best triage in the area yet only low-density and upper-scale housing to service, including a lot of wealthy patrons. Used to be excellent care and reasonable wait times. NO MORE. AND THE SECRET IS NOT A SECRET ANYMORE. If you look at the ontario gov "wait times" site started in 2017, you will see that this hospital tends to have almost double (!) the times compared to other ERs but paradoxically much better overall reviews after treatment. Three years ago I went to emergency with an eye issue and the triage nurse confirmed I really needed to see a specialist, but the wait was 5 hours. This year, 2018, my wife went in for A-Fib and was told the entire hospital (!!) was full and the minimum wait was 6 hours. After 4 hours she was put on a gurney and parked in a corridor. She overheard staff talking about how the funding situation was getting out of control and how concerned they were. She also overheard patients who had been waiting more than 5 hours saying they still preferred free care with a long wait to the US system. Something is going to snap.
