  • 4 STARS (rounded down from 4.49 stars)! If it weren't for both the terrible service and drinks it would have been 5 stars. After reading some of the so-so reviews on Yelp, me and my bf didn't have high expectations of Social House, but we were "WOWED" by the food. Considering it's an Asian Fusion restaurant, the dishes far surpassed the ones we had at Okada at The Wynn and Sushi Roku at Caesar's Palace... This was the first place we hit up after our flight landed on Friday, 12/5. We arrived at 10:30 PM for our reservations and were seated promptly. The décor was trendy and upbeat. I would not expect anything less for an upscale LV restaurant. What stood out the most was the wall filled with gold drawers by the staircase, which was reminiscent of the drawers you would find in a Chinese Herb store. The patio overlooks the TI Pirate Show--the perfect place to sit if the weather was hot. The only complaint I had was the tables were too close too each other, so you can hear your neighbor's entire conversation and they can hear yours. The restaurant was not busy at this time, but it took about 10-15 minutes, for our server, Danny/Donnie (?) to even show up. But, more on that later. On to the food and drinks... COCKTAILS: *Green Tea Lemonade: Gross, it was very bitter and hard to drink. *Ginger Saketini: Even worse. It was super sweet and you couldn't taste the alcohol. It was so sweet that it was like drinking syrup. FOOD: *Yellowtail with Crispy Jalapeños: EXCELLENT; the BEST SASHIMI EVER. The yellowtail was fresh and melted in your mouth. The warm tempura battered jalapeño was a perfect compliment to the yellowtail. A big thanks to the Yelpers out there who recommended this dish! *Kobe Sliders: EXCELLENT. Yes, it's expensive ($24) for three white castle sized burgers with tempura battered onion rings, but well worth it. The kobe was tender and melted in your mouth. That in between the slightly sweet toasted bun and ponzu (?) mayo was an AMAZING combination. The onion rings were light and crispy, not too oily. *Uni with Quail Egg: OMG GOOD! The uni was massive and incredibly fresh. The quail egg on top of that was buttery heaven. I always judge a restaurant by the quality of their Uni. And, Social House's Uni is definitely one of the best we've ever tasted. For about $10/piece, I guess it better be. :) *Hamachi Roll: Very Good; it was fresh and buttery and paired very well with the garlic chips and citrus soy. It also had a nice kick to it. *Shrimp Spicy Tuna Battera Roll: Ehh, could have passed on this one. This roll was topped with cooked shrimp and filled with spicy tuna that was NOT spicy. It was very bland. *Carrot Cardamon Cake with Pistachio Ice Cream: OMFG--One word that best describes this dessert to a "T": is ORGASMIC!!! This is ABSOLUTELTY THE BEST DESSERT I'VE EVER HAD. The carrot cake came out warm, crisp on the outside, and was topped with toasted carrots, alongside cream cheese fraiche. Once you cut into it, you find yourself with an incredibly moist, light, and flavorful cake. One spoonful of the cake, a little of the cream cheese fraiche and a sprinkle of the toasted carrots with a tiny scoop of the pistachio ice cream carrot=ORGASM in your mouth. The flavors went very well together and the different textures (crunchy, warm, rich) were AMAZING. The pistachio ice cream was OoOoo La La; this was the richest ice cream I've ever tasted! SERVICE: Needs a major overhaul. From start to finish, the service was terrible. This should have been an indication when entering Social House, and we were faced with 3 zombie-like hostesses. My bf and I are not high maintenance; we order and eat quickly, clean up after ourselves, and leave right afterwards. So, when it comes to service, all I ask is to get nicely greet with a smile, promptly take our orders, and check on us just once. We got none of the above from Danny/Donnie (?), our server. He was no where to be found for the first 10-15 minutes (it was not busy at the time). When he did come, Danny/Donnie had an expression on his face that read: "F***, it's Friday Night and I don't want to be here. And, since I'm miserable, I might as well let everyone else feel the same way" look on his face. C'mon dude, this is you job; I've done retail for 4 years, and the least you can do is "fake" it. After he took our orders, we didn't see him for the rest of the night. Apparently, we weren't the only ones who felt this way. The table next to us who also had Danny/Donnie said he was not deserving of any tip. The rest of the staff is just like him; young, snooty, and arrogant (except for the bus boys). Geez, people--does it hurt to crack a smile?!?!?! Hopefully, when we come back again in the Summer (and we'll definitely be back for the FOOD), they will have new friendlier staff. If this is the case, and the food is consistent, I'll definitely change my rating to 5 STARS!
