  • Went to St. Francis on our way to the children's museum. My friend was raving about the pig dip so we decided to stop and get one. We did know that kids eat free as well. Upon entering, we were greeted by an unenthusiastic man who began to lead us to the main dining room and then stopped and seated us near the door. I assumed it was because there was no room in the main dining room. We were seated and waited a couple minutes for someone to come over and get drinks. We asked if we could order the kids meals first because they were starving. The server, who was apparently not our server "put the order in". About 10 minutes later we ordered two entrees. I walked to the bathroom, through the main dining area to see that the dining room was not if fact full. Seems like we were placed in the entryway because we had (well behaved) children with us. A few minutes later our entrees arrived. But not the kids meals we ordered 10 minutes before. We say something to whoever dropped the food and they said "oh ya, it's coming". A couple minutes later they bring one of the 3 kids meals we ordered. We tell them we had two others we ordered and they said the same thing. We put the kids meals in first for a reason. All of our food finally came and we all enjoyed it. Our server never came over to see how things were or if we needed anything else. When he did we were ready for the check. He dropped the check, and we waited almost 10 minutes for someone to take it, when they didn't I tracked someone down to take it. Here is the thing that makes me madder than anything. Being treated poorly in a restaurant because we have children with us. We are not jerks, we clean up the floor and the table behind us. We tip over 20%. We factor in the cost of the free kids meals and tip on what the bill should have been. We are good customers, good to those who serve us, and we treated crappy based on preconceived notions. While we were getting our crappy service I was staring at the New Times award for the 2014 best restaurant for kids. Good food and free kids meals aside, I doubt I will return due to the lack of respect and poor service.
