  • Went in for a glass of wine around 4 pm, after having a great lunch on st Denis. The waitress who was nice and looked like she was embarrassed to tell us that we had to eat something. My wife asked if they had cheese she said yes but it doesn't count as food order. The place was empty not wanting to argue we left I don't really care but I think the owner(s) are confused and surely are struggling with their identity and need a little restaurant 101 which I will explain: Firstly I have been in the restaurant business for 29 years, an advanced sommelier (via the court of master sommeliers) have owned a top end restaurant and now am a travelling wine trainer for a multi national company and travel extensively especially through out Europe. We love visiting Montreal where we eat out way through a few days with at least one stop at our favorites toque and primo e Secondo. And try some new places along the way. So this is you lesson on the restaurant business #1 never assume what type of guest just by looking at them. My wife and I look young but are in are mid forties #2 you should have a clear definition of you product, don't list your place as a wine bar and insist people order #3 understand the industry, being 4 pm and we would of ordered a couple cocktails then a bottle of wine, do you not think we would get hungry and order something? Think big picture #4 you want us to eat yet no silver on the table no napkins just wine glasses??? #5 this is the most important as it is regarding you wine program or lack there of the wine bottles are all around the restaurant on display and close to the door I assume there are fluctuations in temperature throughout the day , and the bright light lights both are damaging to the wines AND no self respecting wine loving person would drink wine out of wine glasses with etchings clear crystal glassware if you are a wine lover is the only proper way. I wish you luck however I think you need a clue so I gave you a few
