  • Henderson NV 89074 Stephanie/Wigwam. I looked into direct TV and DISh TV to compare their pricing. Direct TV (in my opinion) has a lot of channels (like DISh TV) in their TV packages, however I believe their channel packages are geared more towards sports (all kinds of sports) than anything. I'm a late 20's single mother of a toddler who knows nothing about sports, so I looked into DISh TV. DISh TV had all the channel options I was looking for that I watch, including all the "premium channels" that Cox charges you extra for in premium channel package bundles, (example: Disney Jr, Nick Jr, Disney xd, Nick toons, destination America, science channel, H2, American heroes channel, ect.) So, to avoid the contract cancellation fee from cox, I removed the TV service, but still kept their internet service. I installed DISh TV with the "Hopper whole home dvr" system (which I couldn't afford with Cox cable Bc they rent you their cable boxes for a lot of money) so I'm very excited that I can still record six shows at one time (like Cox) but also have a little "joey" box in my son's room to record and watch all of his shows, so I don't go crazy with three hours of cartoons in the morning. Yay!) Also, I should mention that you have the ability to record TV shows from the dvr boxes and "prepare them for Mobile" which means that if you download the DISh TV app, if you have mobile hot-spot /Wi-Fi, you are able to watch live TV/recorded dvr shows from your tablet/smartphone. Also DISh TV has a promotion right now. Either a free year of sports (I think NFL stuff) or a free year of Netflix (even if you're already a Netflix customer... They credit your existing Netflix account for a year.) Plus, you have the ability to watch Netflix from DISh TV without switching inputs/lines to Roku or any other device. The parental controls are super simple to work. If you want parental controls on all TVs in the house, you set up parental controls from the main Hooper dvr box, however, if you Just want parental controls set on an individual tv/just use the remote for the specific room and set up parental controls on the Joey box. "Joey" boxes are a part of the Hooper system with DISh. The Hooper main box is put into wherever you want the main box (that stores all of the information like a computer) to go, and the Joey systems have the same recording/dvr services, except their information is stored on the main box, even though you can still access everything/recorded dvr shows on the "Joey's" (I hope that made sense) The interface of the dvr screen/channel guide screen is much more user friendly and easier to read. Not to mention that the rewind/fast foward/switching channels is super way faster than Cox. No delays at all! (DVR/Guide Screen color: Black font/bright primary color icons on light grey background color) I love how easy the TV is to read now! With more features than cable, it took me a few minutes to navigate my way through the dvr settings/parental control settings/guide settings, but it all worked out in the end. My technician was very friendly and showed me how to work just about everything about the TV remotes/guide/dvr list/Bluetooth headphones and was very friendly and helpful and also clean (wearing booties in my house, not ruining my clean carpet... Which I appreciate.) He also took the time to label each TV remote so that I know which remote goes where. Also, there's this great system on the Hooper/Joey boxes that allows you to find the remote (depending on which one you lost *from what room*) you just click a button on the Hooper box/Joey box and it will make the TV remote beep really loud (which I love....) So I have Two Joey's. One in my room, and I have one in my son's room. (With the Hooper main box in the living room) I'm Happy that the Joey boxes are quite small and not big and bulky... They are square and about the size of a woman's hand (if she stretched her fingers out) or a man's hand (without stretching) The main Hooper box is less bulky than the cox cable box (thinner/longer) with a very sleek look. The technician informed me that the reason that they do not have a clock/time on their box is Bc Cox Communications patented the clock/time on their boxes, so no other company can put a clock on their box. I also took advantage of DISh's Bluetooth wireless system (which allows you to be able to mute/turn off TV and still listen to program/music channel without disturbing anyone else, among other features.) So far I am very happy with their customer service (which never put me "on hold"/made me wait) and everyone is very friendly and professional. My house (condo/unit) faces south, so I have the best view of the sky for the satilite... Even with all of these features with DISh TV mentioned, I'm still paying less than I did with Cox, and I'm very pleased.
