| - NOPE. not so much.
I LOVE mexican food. And as soon as I saw modern mexican food on the sign (cause it wasn't really in anyones reviews) I paused....the majority of the time, modern mexican food means bland and annoyingly different. BUT I was already there and I had dinner plans. I got two 'La Margarita' which is there 8 dollar house margarita, these were pretty good so we started off well. I like the bread and spread that they offered on the table (you need a filler while you wait for your food). Not sure I would classify that mexican at all (just because you have olivas doesn't make it mexican, and in all truth it was more like tapas) but I liked it. The waiter was pretty attentive in the beginning so that was appreciated. We ordered our food with a couple suggestions.
I originally was going for la torta de pollo y jaiba, but honestly i don't want to pay $15 to each a sandwich. Soooooo, I quickly picked an oldie but a goodie (maybe that was my mistake) the tacos de carne asada. My friend ordered some spicy sweet chicken tacos (i'm not sure exactly about the name). Our food really did take quite a while to come out, but when you have good company sometimes thats ok. They did get me a second drink during that time, once again thanks :).
When i got my food, i was really surprised that they served me french fries.... 15 bucks for a plate and i got french fries (MODERN?) Ok no big deal, i asked for some mayonesa or hollandaise sauce, thats when the service went down. I was done with 3 tacos and all my fries by the time he walked by us and I had to ask for it again... He never checked to see if everything was going well. I think thats a must and i just started to feel irritated with him at that point
And then there were 4 tacos. Small tacos, corn tortillas, with cilantro and onion. BLAND, just fucking BLAND. I couldn't believe it. I had sadly previously read a review of this restaurant that said the same thing! QUE TONTA FUI YO. I felt so stupid. I ate them....but what the F***. How are you going to make carne asada with NO flavor. My company never commented on liking their dish or not, only at the end to say it was very spicy.
I might go back and try something else, maybe something more 'modern'. BUT it will most likely be if someone else is paying. I could have gotten a better plate of the same thing from a hole in the wall mexican restaurant for $4 dollars.
No Thanks
