  • Being racially profiled at Lowe's Gather around people and let me tell you what happened to my guy yesterday evening at the Lowes. We were at a Home Depot, because he is a mechanic and we have to buy about $5000 worth of tools, but we wanted to see other selections from different stores. For the past week he has been shopping from Home Depot, oreilly auto, Napa, Harbor freight, offer up etc. Anyway we wanted to go to Harbor freight but they closed at 6, as I was searching online for other stores, Lowe's ad pop up and I told him they closed at 8 and we should go there. So we took ourselves there but we only had 20 minutes to peruse, after finding the tools section before they closed. I left him there because there light selection was HuGE and I wanted to look at them, home decor and the rug section. 3 minutes till 8, I go look for him and this is when it gets interesting. When I found him he tells me after I left him, the employee that greeted us when we got to the tool section, who asked if we needed help and we said no, started following him through each aisle. The man was right behind him the WHOLE TIME, followed him through each aisle! And then he tells him when he picked up a tool, he needs to put it BACK exactly where he found it. My guy gave him a look and the guy left. We had just walked out of the store when he finished telling me this. So I marched our asses back there and told the cashier and his response was like "ok and......." While we were walking out again, another employee called us and asked us what happened. We explained what happened and the employee whose name was Chuck, let us know it was probably because they were closing. Here is the thing though, I was in the store, looking at items and no one followed me around. On top of that there were other customers and I didn't see anyone follow them around or asking them to put things back where they found them. My guy looks white but he has a heavy Spanish accent because he is half Spanish and half Cuban. My question to Lowe is, is this how you treat customers?! Imagine because of his accent he got treated this way, can you Imagine if he was black?! Horrendous.
