| - Besides the fact that they almost killed my brother, this place is awesome! He had to be intubated, and they damaged his throat/gag reflex in the process. (They readily admitted this.) But then after they took him off the respirator, they didn't suction his throat often enough (you can't swallow your throat secretions if your gag reflex is messed up). So basically, he spent a week slowly drowning in his own saliva, AND NO ONE REALIZED IT. They just kept saying, "He's not waking up. We don't know why." Finally, the nurse just came in the room one day and said, "The family has to start planning to send him to hospice." Whoa, what? Hospice? You mean he's dying? Long story short, he wasn't breathing, so his heart stopped, so they had to paddle him, then re-intubate him, and THEN they realized what the problem had been all along. He's alive by the grace of God--and in spite of the people working here.
