| - I am in love with Underground Butcher - seriously. The only way they could improve would be to open a pop up in Milwaukee, preferably next door to my house.
The Aahlwurst is my favorite item for sure, but I have not found anything that I dislike. This is a sausage I have not been able to find anywhere else, and I highly, highly recommend. The chorizo, the salamis, all of the sausages are exceptional. They do some kind of magic that makes these items not heartburn inducing - unlike any conventional grocery store salami.
I make a point to stop in whenever I'm in town - last week I grabbed a few landjagers for my drive back to Milwaukee - best road snack ever! The cheese/sausage sticks are also excellent. They also have little "french exit" baguette sandwiches that look lovely, and a full deli menu of other amazing sounding items. I have not looked closely, so i am not sure if there is a gluten free bread option.
I also love the ambience in this space - the employees are helpful and attentive, but not overbearing, which is a challenge in a small space. There are locally made alcohols, mixers, and other "entertainment" dry goods on the shelves. The cold case has a wide array of sausage, meats, and cheeses. There are some "real" meats as well - roasts, and steaks.
Go here - go here often and try everything. And tell them Milwaukee needs them.
