| - Great way to spend a day here to relax and unwind. My first ever Korean sauna experience was actually in Seoul, Korea a few years back and I was hoping that I would be able to find a place here in Toronto. Of course there is no comparison to what you would find in Korea but...it's enough for me to destress and get away from the reality of life for a few hours.
I've been to this Korean sauna a couple times. First time I went 2 years ago or so where the entrance fee was $20. I recently went again this week to destress and found out that the entrance fee had increased to $25. Nonetheless, a cheaper alternative than what other spas may offer.
Upon entering the sauna, you are asked to take off your shoes where you are supposed to lock your shoes up in a locker (men and women both separate); most people walk barefoot around the sauna but if you would like to bring flip flops that is ok too. Once finished, you take your shoe locker key to the front desk and they will ask you to pay the entrance fee. An electronic wristband, tshirt, shorts, and 2 small towels are given to you. Entering separate changing room facilities (either women or men), you find your locker number to put your personal belongings in. In the changing rooms, there are several hot tubs/baths in a room full of showers. I've never done the hot tubs/baths at this sauna but typically you would first shower for hygienic reasons and then experience the hot baths. You are not supposed to be clothed when you go into the baths (similar to how traditional Japanese hot baths are) - which is very normal. Again, I've had this experience in Korea/Japan and imagine it is not much different here. Next time I shall try the baths.
Anyways, once changed into your tshirt and shorts, you make your way out into the common lounge area to meet your friends or partner. You will notice that everyone is wearing the same thing which is kind of nice. The main point is that everyone, like yourself, is here to relax and have a good time. The leather couches in the main lounge area are very comfy and I often find myself just lying there. If you walk further back you will see a separate room to all the sauna rooms. You will find rooms with different temperatures and different healing properties. It's a nice feeling to go in and relax yourself.
Since sweating in the saunas will make you hungry, this Korean sauna also has a food/snack bar. They do not allow you to bring outside food and as a result, oftentimes everyone will end up buying snacks to eat. Prices are not cheap but what can you do.
Overall, staff are friendly and welcoming. The Seoul Zimzilbang Korean Sauna gives me a piece of Korea that I miss in Toronto. A good way to relax and unwind for the whole day with friends or with your partner.
