| - Oh Citrine, where to begin....
I recently moved out of Citrine Apartments after over a year of residency. While the advertisements promise "unsurpassed amenities" what they should probably state is "unsurpassed headaches." I moved into Citrine while they were still under ownership by JBL (who also built the building) in March of 2016. At the time the management was great, I made friends with many of the residents and enjoyed my sanctuary at Citrine. Unfortunately, not long after Simpson Housing purchased the property, things began to change. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times!" The facility is fantastic, locations is perfect, amenities are nice unfortunately they are all tarnished by the tyrant running Citrine, Erica George. I cannot possible in good conscience recommend that anyone (even my worst enemy) choose to live at Citrine under the George regime.
The management team consistently violates Fair Housing laws by playing favorites with the residents, creating arbitrary rules that are counter to the terms in the lease agreements, and discussion residents complaints, challenges, etc...with other residents. In this case the juice is definitely not worth the squeeze. All of these challenges culminated in my decision to not-renew my lease at its conclusion a few months ago. Since that point, management has done everything in their power to suck as much money away from me as possible. In addition to keeping 100% of all deposits, cleaning fees etc..., they extorted me for more money. Rest assured, any current or future residents, you will NEVER get a deposit back. Management will absolutely keep all of your money and demand more. Their position, that the apartment needed to be returned in the condition it was in. Um, excuse me, my apartment was new when I moved in...or so I thought. Actually, it was a model during constructions and had a previous resident. Yet, they still expected perfection upon turn in.
I would recommend you take all of the Yelp reviews seriously (Except the one by Drew V. as he is an employee of Simpson Housing and a previous leasing agent at Citrine). Do not move here! If you like the design and facility, go to The Moderne in Scottsdale; same builder, same design but a lot less BS!
For any employees of Simpson Housing, you need to evaluate the leadership at Citrine Apartments...it is the reason your occupancy is suffering and you renewal rates are abysmal.
