| - At first I was skeptical about this little tourist trap nestled in a less than ideal neighborhood. A little scary, yes; maybe bring pepper spray?
Anyways, having gone a few days before Christmas, OF COURSE the line was out of control! Instead of giving up, we persevered and waited it out. Turns out, they actually move people through the house rather quickly. Score!
Once inside, there are props and plenty of spots to take pictures. If you're one of those people that have seen the movie a shablillion times, there is much to be appreciated, from the infamous Red Ryder BB gun, portraits on the wall, to the bathroom where Ralphie was forced to sit with soap in his mouth. Very cute.
The gift shop was actually pretty cool too, they have gifts from more than just the Christmas Story, but also Christmas Vacation (my personal fave) and Elf. While I often despise these types of shops, it was fun to browse around and grab a few stocking stuffers for the fam.
If you're in town and got a few hours to spare around the holidays, this is a worthwhile and seasonally appropriate way to spend your time. Do it.
