  • My girlfriend and I went on this adventure to celebrate our birthdays. We had booked through The Zombie Apocalypse store and TRUST ME, just book directly through Combat Adventures Ops instead. Why? Because Anthony (over at the ZA Store) never relayed our info to the Ops guys. When we arrived for our Saturday 10 AM slot, they not only didn't have a 10am slot but the Combat Ops guys never even heard of us. Good thing I had the confirmation number in my phone. At the front desk "Kao" took care of us and made it seem as if Anthony has tried their patience on more than one occasion in the past. Well this kind of messed up our tightly-planned day, so I had to drive back to our hotel, pick up my service dog and Kao graciously allowed me to keep her in his air conditioned office while we went zombie hunting. For training, Wombat and Nomad gave us the crash course on tactics. Then Wombat took the fatigue-wearing folks while Nomad took the rest of us street-clothed newbies. We got a vest to hold our ammo, a helmet and a pair of goggles. And because Anthony dropped the ball on us, the Combat Ops guys were gracious enough to give us a third mag. Oddly enough, we never needed three mags because there were enough in our party to put down the "walkers." At one point, my own girlfriend shot me in the forearm. It actually drew blood and that sucker hurt! She told me that she thought I was a walker even though I was wearing a helmet and had a rifle. I think she did it on purpose. LOL Hey, as the song goes, love hurts. TIPS: It can get really hot in the warehouse. Bring a stay-cool type of rag to keep you cool. I wore mine over my head under the helmet and it helped a lot. Turns out we took the low level package and I'm glad we did. Since it gets pretty hot and you will sweat a lot, You might bring a "Camel Back" type of water container. Also we didn't have to wear the heavy camouflage fatigues. So wear shorts, a breathable shirt and high-top shoes. Someone in your group should ALWAYS watch your "6." At the end of the mission, we were all quite sweaty and hopped up on adrenaline. My girl and I had an absolute blast. My hat's off to Nomad for taking care of us during the mission. He made sure to involve everyone and was a great team leader. Thanks to all the zombies as well... great sports.
