| - I have stayed at the Flamingo multiple times in the past, all good experiences. I am not a gambler, so I cannot comment on that. My family booked the Flamingo for three reasons: location on the strip, good experiences in the past, and the rating of the family pool. The service this time, though, was without a doubt, the worst service I have ever experienced in Las Vegas...at ANY hotel.
It started with check in. I arrived at 3:00pm to a very long line of people at the front desk. There were two desk agents. After finally making it to the front of the line I was immediately informed I would be charged the "early check-in fee" of $16.00 because at that time it was a few minutes before 4:00. No "Hello." No "Thank you for waiting." Nothing. I wasn't going to wait in line again, so I agreed to the fee. When my family and I made it to our room, it was the wrong kind of room - single King bed - which was not what we reserved. I called from the phone in the room they told me to go back to the desk. After a bit of protest, they sent me to the key desk to avoid the line. We were sent to another room on the other side of the hotel. The process took 1.5 hours or so by the time we were finally in the room. No apologies for the screw-up, not even a "Please" or "Thank You" or even a "Thanks for picking the Flamingo."
As mentioned, the pool got good reviews for families. Well, it was awful. I had been to the pool at the Flamingo multiple times in the past before there was a 21 and over pool and a kid's pool. In order to carve out a kid's pool, it appears they took about 1/3 of the total pool space to allocate to families. As a result, the kid's/family pool was packed! Poolside service was nonexistent. Lines at the snack/beverage counter took on average, 30 minutes. My wife was quick to point out, though, that the only place there was no line for the restroom in Las Vegas was at the Flamingo pool. Hmmmm.
We were supposed to stay five nights, but left after three. We just couldn't take it anymore. When my wife called down to the front desk to change our departure date, 40 hours in advance, the agent said that she could not waive the early check-out fee. Apparently, that could only be done by a manager, who was not available. When she asked when the manager would be available, the answer was, "they are very busy and may not be available." I called down to ask the same question about 15 minutes later. That time, the agent said that since the manager was not available, she would waive the fee.
As mentioned previously by another person, you get what you pay for. The room rates were good, but it doesn't make up for the poor service and the misrepresented facilities. I will not stay at the Flamingo again, regardless of the price.
