| - Definitely like it here. First time at this hotel and I can tell the difference compared to lower end places I stayed at years ago. Right when you walk in, it seems grand, formal, elegant, with all the marble and gold. And a gorgeous ceiling display of colorful flowers.
They offer mobile check-in. It may or may not speed anything up, because you would still need to wait in line and get your keys, confirm stuff, ask questions. At the very least, I think it confirms/guarantees your room is ready for you by the time you arrive. Then the super friendly guy with an Irish like accent -- wish I caught his name because he was so damn nice! -- gave us some booklets and information about how to get around, food places, etc. Our room was on the 26th floor, and offered a decent view -- mostly highway, but we saw the Rio hotel and at night time, things were lit up. It's not spectacular, but we got a very affordable rate, with a $100 dining credit right around the Xmas holidays. So can't really complain.
My husband and I really loved the room -- very spacious. We never felt cramped or on top of one another. We got a nice desk workstation, two sofas chairs and a little round table to make up a little lounge area, and a couch at the end of our king sized bed that had fluffy pillows which actually offered some neck support. This was always a gripe of ours at other hotels , that their pillows were so flat it was basically sleeping on an empty pillow case. There's a safe inside one of the night stand drawers, a closet to hang up clothes, and dresser drawers. Also a lot of outlets for all your gadgets chargers, etc. Free wifi as well. Could sometimes have issues but for the most part was solid.
The big highlight was the bathroom -- we enjoyed the completely tiled bathroom, double sinks-- it was convenient to get ready in the morning at the same time so we could get our day started -- ample lighting, even a close up mirror to do your makeup. I hate having to lean over the huge countertop to get close to a mirror and then mess up my makeup. I brought my own stand alone mini mirror for this reason, but Bellagio had me completely covered on that front. The toilet has a strong flush (always a good thing, no?!), plenty of towels, a decent sized soaking tub (not sure if the actual tub was larger than standard), and a standing shower/glass door. Water pressure was strong and it got very hot, which was perfect. Not a very big standing shower, and it's really only meant for one person, so good enough! Air condition and heat both worked very well.
I did notice that early in the week, the hot water was very strong. As we got closer and closer to the weekend, the water didn't stay hot long and in order to achieve the temperature, I had to consistently shift the knob, even during a short shower.
Another thing to note -- that my husband was nearly giddy about -- that you can open/close the curtains and blackout curtains with a button. One near the entrance, and another by the bed. Is a pretty cool feature. You want to wake up and need some sunlight, you don't even need to get out of bed. Cool way to gradually ease your way out of bed, after those late nights and all.
On our last night there we ordered room service: Expensive, and they charge an additional $4.50 per person fee. Two 3 egg omelettes with choice of meats/veggies, and you get potato hash and toast or English muffin on the side. When it arrived, I was surprised at all the condiments (mini bottles of mustard, mayo, and ketchup as my husband requested), and numerous flavors of mini jam jars. So cute! The omelettes weer also huge, like the size of a large forearm, and loaded with veggies/bacon. Not stingy here at all, which was appreciate considering the price. Loved the roasted tomato garnish.
One minor annoyance was that you always have to show your card before entering the elevators. Very inconvenient if you have a lot of bags or no free hands, and then you need to rustle around in your purse for your wallet.
Another negative -- smelled smoke everywhere. I expect it downstairs, in the casino, but not in the hallways, in the bedrooms, under the doors. It just seeped in from everywhere. Was a huge damper.
Also at times, could hear a lot of noise from next door or from the hallway. Usually children and some noisy groups. Doors are extremely heavy here, and when they slam shut, it's loud enough to wake you. This happened in spite of earplugs and two noise machines. Never heard doors slam quite as loudly as they do here.
Overall, pleased with this hotel. Close to other hotels and shopping/food. Within the hotel, enjoyed 24 hour Snacks, traditional Chinese food from Noodles, pastries/breakfast sandwiches and coffee drinks or gelato from Palio, Cafe Gelato, etc. Always got to see the fountains as we were walking up to the entrance which was a nice site.
