I've been HK Hair Design's loyal customer since I was a toddler (before they moved to their current location) and I've had some great and some bad experiences with them.
I don't see many young women come here. I think of this place is for only men/boys and older women. If you're a young woman who's been looking for the perfect Tailor Swift bob I'd pay the extra cash and head to a more well known establishment to not be disappointed, although you won't be disappointed on the price.
Since I've been with them so long I know who's bad, who's good and at what type of hair cuts each of my favourite barbers are good at.
For us men if you want a classic look Patrick (the barber who's been with them since day 1! +20years) is the best for that. For more modern/hip looks like faux hawks and sorts ask for George. He's been there for a few years now and he's quick and effective. Their names are posted beside each of their mirrors.
Only thing is like all barbers, an inch means 2 inches. So don't tell them verbally. Instead, show them with your fingers, pick up you hair and show them exactly what you want. I'd say
They have prepaid ticket-cards with 4 cuts costing $32 ($8 each)
UPDATE March 2016
George has quit.
Any recommendations for other barbers here?
