| - If you are hankering for a taco and a perfectly mixed drink, Round Corner is the place to go! Since moving to the city, we have frequented this great spot at least every other week, so I thought that it was about time to write a review.
Typically, we go on Monday evenings to visit the Embury pop-up in the back. They usually have a great selection of $5.00 tacos, and a new selection of cocktails every week. They are always amazing. But, since this review is for Round Corner, I'll stick with the food for now!
We ALWAYS start off with their chips and red salsa. The chips are, quite simply, amazing. They are obviously homemade and sometimes come out still warm. They are crispy, expertly salted, and gone within minutes of arriving. We typically order a second round of chips, we love them that much. The salsa is a traditional Mexican salsa- thin and spicy with a definite kick.
I always go for the carnitas tacos, and am never disappointed. The pork is seasoned well and slow-cooked to perfection. The corn tortillas also hold up well to the generous portion of meat, onions, and green salsa toppings. The chicken tacos are a close second. My husband tries whatever is on special, preferring though the brisket and mahi mahi.
The drinks at the bar upfront are tasty as well. I have tried both a mojito and a strawberry margarita , and the slightly sweet drinks pair well with the spicy salsa and tacos. They have an impressive collection of Mezcal, a slightly smoky liquor made from the agave plant. Try it if you can, it is quite lovely. I fell in love with it on a trip to Mexico City, and converted my husband.
With regards to service, it is always quick and efficient. The bartenders are friendly and make amazing drinks, and the waiters and waitresses are everywhere at once. We have been here when it is slow and when it is packed (such as for Cinco de Mayo), and we never lacked for anything we needed. They have a spacious outdoor patio in the back, so if the front is jammed try out there on a nice day!
Overall, we love Round Corner and will continue to go as much as we can.
