What a delicious experience! The veal tartar with foie mousse was my favorite. You can't go wrong with that. And they didn't. The kicker was the maple toast. The combination of tartar, foie mousse on the toast...delish. Effing delish. Well-flavored and a nice portion.
The braised beef tortellini was done well but I wasn't a fan of the al dente pasta. But that's just preference. The spot prawns were great, no shell or head, and very soft. I was expecting a bit firmer but was pleasantly surprised. Wish they cut the baby fennel but still good.
I had the striped bass, which was perfectly cooked. Moist and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The skin was a little salty but I thought it went well with the rest of the dish, which included spatzle, truffles and a lobster beurre blanc. Omg, so good.
Dessert was a strawberry meringue. I'm sure it's called something else and I've butchered it but still delicious! The cake part seemed undercooked and am not sure if that's how it was supposed to be. But again, great flavors and very good portions. Great wine selections. A few more to add to my collection. I left satisfied. Not overly stuffed and hating myself.
Great service, as well. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. The rest of the staff was also very attentive. We were fairly early so could be because there weren't a lot of customers as of yet. But great experience. I'd definitely go again. And to Chuck Hughes's other restaurant.
