| - I met a friend here on a Saturday afternoon a few months ago after she raved about the place.
First off, if you're uninitiated, it's located inside Sip Coffee and Beer Garage. I knew that going in. It still was a bit confusing to find once inside, but there is a centrally located staircase that leads down to the underground level where Undertow is. Met my friend, went downstairs and were promptly seated for our reservation.
It's very small and kinda cozy, though maybe a little too small if you're trying to carry on a conversation with someone while seated next to loud patrons at the bar. No matter, their quirky decor and style, friendly service, and strong and delicious drinks makes up for it!
For the life of me, I can't recall what I ordered. Their menu is extensive; lengthy is an understatement. Creative combinations and fun garnishes make anticipating your drink an adventure. Classic tiki bar recipes, plus some original offerings.
Being that Undertow has a pirate/tiki/retro feel, they've designed the place to look like you're seated inside of a ship, complete with porthole "windows" that give a view of the surrounding ocean. Very cute and clever choice!
I intend to return someday and try another tasty, inventive drink or two.
