| - My husband and I have a hole in our roof, with 2 or 3 missing tiles, from either a storm or an animal. We were concerned sabout critters getting access to our attic. Handy Manny's came up in an internet search as one of the higher-ranked contractors who could help. I called them about 8 days ago, and spoke to Manny himself. He advised the minimum charge for coming out for the job would be $100. We felt this was reasonable, since he alluded to the fact that replacing the roof tiles would be a minor repair. He sounded decent enough, so I went ahead with booking the job. He advised me to text him our address and best times to come out to do the work. We agreed on 8 am today, October 10. My husband woke up early on his day off to wait for the company to come out. At 830 am my husband texted me to say they had not showed up yet; I texted Manny. He texted back 3 hours later, at 1130 am, saying he had been caught up in another job for the past few days, but wouuld "get on us, and get them (his crew I assume) out there today as soon as possible". Manny then texted me at about noon to advise we didn't need to be home for them to show up and do the work; I thought this meant he was going to arrive soon. By 330 pm, they had still not arrived at our home. I texted and called Manny, leaving a detailed voice mail. He texted back that they were at the other job site, but would "try to be there before dark." ???? Vague and non committal. 630 pm, still nothing. My husband basically wasted a whole day waiting for a home repair that never happened. I called around, and found another place in Charlotte called Charlotte Pro Roofing; spoke to the owner, and set up an appintment for this Friday. It sounds like Manny does not prioritize work appointments if he feels it will not pay much money; I would strongly advise going to someone else for home repairs.
