| - I had an absolutely awful experience with New Planet. When I first scheduled my move, I tried to think of every extra cost possible, and they assured me there would be no extra costs. I explained the exact situation of my building, that it was on a steep hill that could not handle a semi-truck or a large moving truck. On the day of the move, they refused to move my things unless I paid an additional $400 for the inconvenience of having to park off the hill due to the fact that their truck could not climb the hill. They also tried to charge me because my apartment was not on the ground level, although this was already clear at the time of booking. They worked overly quickly and haphazardly. The most egregious thing was when they dropped my most expensive piece of furniture, a $1500 desk, off the back of their truck, smashing it and ruining it. They brought up it's remains without comment. I only learned of what had happened because my landlord saw them drop the desk off. The basic insurance covers only $0.60 a pound, so after haggling day after day with the company for 1 year (and the insurance company they use), i finally was rewarded with only $114 for my ruined desk.
My advice is, don't use this company! If you do, get in writing that there will be absolutely no extra charges beyond what is initially quoted NO MATTER WHAT. And, buy extra insurance. You'll need it when if your stuff is negligently broken. This company does not stand behind it's men, does not take resonsibility for negligent damage they cause to your belongings.
