  • Who is David, and why is he so greedy? The most valuable thing in the world is knowledge, but the shoes at Davids Footwear ain't that far behind in pricing. Can the Louboutins at his store lead us to the Holy Grail? Will the Jimmy Choos his selling suddenly give us magical Kung Fu powers like Jacky Chan's tuxedo? Yes, the glorious high heel, it make fools out of the most discerning Men, but take a close look at the merchandise here and you will realize that these boots were certainly not made for walking. The entrance to Davids Footwear is very awkward, I seem to always been waiting for someone to first make their exit before I can attempt to approach the damn door. The store is immaculate, it's a nice place for sure. But shoe shopping isn't the type of shopping you do in the open, and that's where this place gets it wrong. It's all glass on the first floor. Now, I'm not horribly concerned with taking off my shoe in public, but not everybody is so fortunate to have perfect feet like me.....as a matter of fact, some fabulous people (I'm sure) are in possession of some ugly, stanky feet. Personally, if someone has ugly feet, I wouldn't want to been shown to them. The level of privacy within the store is next to none, so people who are self-conscious can go to hell. There is this spot within the first floor where a girl can walk up and down before making a very expensive decision, but for what they are asking for, I feel that there should been a bloody runway. Did I mention nobody has ever smiled at me here? A slight nod of recognition was all I got. Somewhere else this would suffice, say....the Buckingham Palace, as certain a nod of recognition would be considered a great honour, but this is a shoe store in Toronto, and in a shoe store in Toronto, I go by the name of; 'Sir.' There is no decor here, the decor are the merchandise itself. It's just mirrors and funny shaped pedestals. Upstairs has a lot more mens' shoes, but I promise it's no more interesting than what they already have on the first floor. Besides, a shoe store is the last place I want to buy shoes. They have been made to the generic specification of someone who possesses a certain foot size. As a Chinese man, I am a believer that one's foot is central to a person's overall health. My Louboutins are from Italy, made to my specifications. The only other methods of purchasing shoes are as follows: 1. Fly to England, take a cab to Mayfair, find the best shoe maker in Savile Row, have your shoe made. or 2. Go to Beijing where there are specialty stores for every sneaker possible, and buy something you can't find anywhere else in the rest of the world. This place is at the corner of Bay and Bloor, less than a minute walk from Holt Renfrew. I'm not sure what purpose this store serves, when Holt's selection of footwear is a hundred times more extensive. I cannot see any sensible reason why I should give my money to David, especially when all the salespeople seem to ignore me. I never actually seen anyone smile here, ain't that the purpose of a shoe store, to make girls happy? King David treated Bathsheba better than this David the shoe guy to his patrons.
