  • I've lived in Cabrillo Apartments now for almost 5 years. I've seen management come and go and am someone who can tell you truth about living here. Cabrillo started off as a pretty underdeveloped area, & quiet. Unfortunately, starting in about 2017, Cabrillo has started to decline and I will tell you why. The residents. The caliber of residents that management has allowed to live in Cabrillo has caused a ton of issues and has changed the once quiet and peaceful community. I had my car broken into last year. Nothing was done. I was told security is a waste of money. And security cameras? They are a joke. They cover nothing and achieve nothing. I know this because I made them show me footage of the closest camera to where my car was parked and you could only see blocked pixelated images. There are no cameras near vehicle ports. There is nothing to protect you from crime. I told Felicia this made me feel unsafe. And I got PTSD because I had an extra set of keys to my house in my car. They could have easily broken into my house and harmed me. Again, nothing was done. Police are regularly here now. I see them all the time. This NEVER used to happen. It was a quiet community. Now you can hear people arguing at 2am, yelling at each other. About 3 months ago, I got new neighbors who moved in below me. I only knew I had new neighbors because of how loud they were. In my 5 years, I have never had an issue with my neighbors but now I do. They play loud rap music, I can hear all of their conversations because they seem to yell instead of talk. Even at inappropriate hours. I knew the first day they moved in because I heard them having sex. My guess is it's an apartment of African american young men. Lastly, they have decided to continue to raise my rent. It has increased by $300 a month by this year. That is outstanding. Living here for 5 years and being a good tenant, you would think I wouldn't be pushed out, but that is exactly what is happening. I can no longer afford the rent increases. Especially for all the above that is continuing to devalue Cabrillo. Good residents are moving out. Felicia is actually a very friendly and wonderful manager and it's unfortunate that these issues are pushing away good residents, but they need to take the concerns of safety of residents more seriously and stop turning a blind eye to residents who are troubled by the obvious increase in crime in the community.
