  • I've been to Commonwealth many times and never had a bad experience until last night. This review can be filed under safety. My friend and I went up to the rooftop bar and were treated very well by the bartender. Didn't catch her name but have had her before and she has always been awesome--none of the downtown attitude. DJ was awesome, as well. The problem came at around 1:30. It seems that someone put something in both of our drinks, most likely while we were dancing. Within 20 minutes my friend lost me in the crowd and became extremely aware that something was wrong. She stumbled out of the bar and was able to make it across the street to the taxi stand at El Cortez. She does not remember what she said to the cab driver or the ride home. She was unable to move most of the night and vomited until mid afternoon today. 3 drinks at the bar, vodka and sodas--nothing fancy, no shots--all within a 2 and a half hour time period. At around 2 as I was trying to find my friend, I dropped my phone. In the process of trying to find it, my legs also were jello. I was barely able to move and fell at least twice. We both had 3 drinks at the bar over the course of 2 and a half hours, nothing to bring on this type of reaction. Upon finding Commonwealth staff to help, a bouncer came to look. Once he determined the phone was gone, he walked me down to the exit where I was told I had to leave. When I said I just wanted to find my phone and that I couldn't find my friend, he responded that I was too drunk and that my options were for him to handcuff me and wait for metro or I could leave. I was barely able to walk, was in tears, and was completely alone at 2:30am on Fremont Street. I don't remember how I got home. Today has been awful--sweating profusely, dizziness, nausea--off 3 drinks? But the worst was how the security handled the situation. Rather than seeing that there was a safety issue, they assumed I was a drunk and put me and possibly others in great danger. Overall, it was a complete failure by security in ensuring the safety and well being of their patrons. Watch your drinks, ladies, because security certainly won't be helpful if you are drugged.
