  • We found Ponchos by stumbling over it while looking for another address. It was lunch time so why not??? The short review is - just stop what you are doing right now and go there for lunch! You live in Tucson and it is in Phoenix? I don't care, leave early it's worth it. OK a bigger review. Big surprise! First -- The parking area is deceptive - go to the back instead of squeezing into one of those front spaces. Then - go in and ignore any line that might have formed - it will clear up really fast. Now sit down and prepare to be surprised. I bet you think most Mexican food is just Lettuce Cheese and some meat arranged in different presentations with Salsa. Well that is true but Ponchos actually is a different taste and it is wonderful. Chips - the chips are light and crunchy not burned, thick and greasy. You may well ask to buy a bag of them to take home. We did. Twice now. Salsa - the salsa comes in a squeeze bottle and I was really skeptical because I like it in a dish to dip out of. The salsa is best served like they do it and it is spectacular. Not to hot, nice tang and flavor just goes all over your mouth. They provide a dish if you want to put the Salsa in the dish. (get takeout to go with those chips you are going to buy) I have now had Tacos (you just have to always do that) and Enchiladas. Both were an experience. My associate had the red chili in a burro and I tried it. You really should just drive there to try the red chili. This is a small thing but I like coffee and restaurants frequently keep coffee around or do not have it ready. Ponchos keeps fresh coffee hot and ready, and it is good coffee. My only issue - no Posole and I bet these guys could make a killer Posole.
