| - I came here to write a bad review about this venue with no previous knowledge of the place prior to this visit. I can see that many others have had bad experiences as well.
I belong to fillaseat, which is a membership allowing free tickets to shows that have not sold out. The purpose is to introduce future customers to vendors and shows, and hopefully bring in a little food/drink revenue vs just having an empty seat. The only tickets available for the Bounded Fist Muay Thai event, were for standing only. I have a bad back and cannot stand for hours so I got tickets for my husband and son and elected not to go myself, as much as I would have liked to.
When they arrived it was immediately requested that they pay $10 at the door. My husband called me and I informed him that the entry should be free, and that I would call the venue. I called and was informed that the $10 at the door was for the 1 drink minimum. I thought $10 was steep but whatever. I told husband to pay it and he would get a drink. Upon entry they were not given a ticket or coupon for a drink, but they were given a can of Tecate beer. They went to the bar to get their drink and the bartender charged them for the drink.
I emailed fillaseat about this issue. The following Monday they contacted the venue. They were informed that the venue charges at the door for its $10, 1 drink minimum and that they issue a ticket for the drink. As I said before, they received no ticket at the door. It seems to me that since there was a dialog going on over the door charge at the time, they would have been especially careful to issue that ticket.
I'd also like to add that I've never been forced into the 1 or 2 drink minimum to even get through the door. Most venues do this on the honor system. As a result, I usually buy food and come back for full priced events. You can bet I'm not planning to go to the Arizona Event Center!
Arizona Event Center, shame on you for treating your customers that way. Really bad for business! Do you know how many people read yelp reviews? Get it together and get some good reviews, and you might be able to wipe this slate clean. No charge for that advice from this Business Consultant!
