I had very high expectations for FnB. Did my research to find a great restaurant to try while I visit Arizona for the first time. I even booked a table a month in advance.
As I checked into the restaurant. Was greeted and sat immediately. So, far wow great looks like the evening dinner might go well. I was not impressed by either table that was offered. I HATE I HATE I HATE sitting near foot traffic. The corner table was next to the wine storage and we sat right under the magazine rack. HOW IS THIS assigned as a dinner/seating table? BIZARRE.
The lamp above the wine storage was making me melt and stick to the chair. Let me just enjoy dinner sitting in the corner in this warm warm hole.
I did enjoy the meals and the complimentary sparkling beverage. The food presentation was sloppy and the use of beans as garnish/filler in every dish was repetitive.
Our waiter was not engaging at all. Only when he set down the bill. The food runner and busboy did their best to provide service even though I don't think it is their job. Not their fault.
I am scratching my head here... wondering how in the world did they even make it on the James Beard nominees list?
Would I come back? Would I come back if the manager e-mails me? No & No. It is what it is. I can't change the fact I had terrible service. But they can.
I had no idea they had a bar next door and it looked more appealing to have dinner there. There was no customers on that side, but the bartender.
