Have you ever seen that episode of the Simpsons where Ned Flanders loses his house and Homer helps rebuild it and it's the most cumbersome and thoughtless piece of junk ever - to the point where Ned goes insane because why even bother?
Whatever charm Aiello's had before the remodel is totally sapped. It's like walking into an ICU. The lights are WAY too bright, the TVs are awkwardly low so you can't see them from any of the seating aside from the bar seats - even half of the very small bar seating is blocked from the TVs because of the beer taps. The TV is placed right behind the taps, obscuring the view.
When the Pens game was on it was whisper quiet, although the bar was full. The sound from the TVs is completely inaudible, while Aiello's decided to play some weird reggae-jazz fusion instead.
Just a bizarre, boring experience. Wouldn't suggest it for any dining-in until they fix the TVs. Why even have them if you can't see or hear anything?
Go a couple buildings down to Mineo's (I don't even LIKE Mineo's!) for a real experience. A little (lot) more dim. More cheerful atmosphere. Better sound and TV system. There's just no real reason to eat in Aiello's now. I've never been in a brighter room in my life.
Also the mirror in the men's bathroom is waist-high. So weird.
