So I live over at north, where I already have a favorite ramen spot. My friends told me try out Monta saying it's the best in town. At north we have ichi ramen, and that's hands down my favorite ramen place. The broth over there and the spicy sauce is fantastic. So I came with high expectations for Monta. I'm clearly judging on the ramen broth, and truthfully, I have no idea what people are talking about. The tonkotsu broth has a strong smell that is very off putting. I can't really describe it, maybe it's the pork broth or something, I'm not sure what it is. My friend who recommended Monta told me, it's the broth, that's how Monta Ramen usually smells. I really couldn't finish my ramen because the smell from the broth. The service was okay, and their fried rice was good. My rating is solely based on their ramen because it is their main product. It's really not as good as people describe. I just think people haven't been open to other ramen shops but broth wise. Ichi ramen is way better. Personally, the drive from north and the broth just doesn't do it for me. I swear there is a smell that is offputting. I hope other people can tell me what that is.
