  • Unfortunately, our refrigerator went out after a year on Tuesday 01-09-18, we called the manufacture and they stated the refrigerator was not under manufacture warranty. I called Platinum Home Warranty since I purchased a $1800 top of the line 2-year plan and when I called on 01-10-18 at 1008 and I was told that I did not have refrigerator coverage however they could see if they could get someone to come to my house at a discounted rate. After 10 mins of being put on hold and arguing with the customer service lady she comes back and says I'm sorry we have changed computer programs and there was a mix up you do have coverage and food spoilage coverage. The customer service rep stated she is sending a technician out for evaluation between 1-5 but for the food spoilage she would have to get a manager to call me back. On 01-10-18 a technician came to our residence and found that the compressor had went out and he would have to take the information back to the office and see what they could do about it. We received no follow up call from a manager about the food spoilage and or anyone about the repair of the refrigerator. I called back on 01-11-18 at 0756 to find out what was going on with repair and with the food spoilage and was told that a manager would call me back. At 0913 I received a call from a service manager that he had contacted the manufacture and that the compressor was under warranty and at that point Platinum Home Warranty was bowing out. I said what about the food spoilage coverage and he stated if we did not have an open claim with them and that since the manufacture was taking over they could not cover the food. I asked to speak to a higher up manager. I wait another 10 minutes for a different manager to come on the line and when she came on the line I was again told that I did not have refrigerator coverage. The manager had every other comment in the computer from what took place the prior day but they forgot to resolve the computer system error that I have purchased the top of line most expensive plan they had and I had to argue with her that I had coverage for the refrigerator and for food spoilage. After spending two and half days without a refrigerator and numerous hours on the phone between the manufacture and Platinum Home Warranty arguing and pleading for someone to fix our refrigerator I was told that Platinum Home Warranty was bowing out of the repair and they would reimburse us $25 for food spoilage. Moreover, I paid Platinum Home Warranty $65 for the service call and they would not refund me the $65 to help with the food either. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PLATINUM HOME WARRANTY TO ANYONE, CUSTOMER SERVICE IS WORTHLESS AND WARRANTY SERVICE IN WORTHLESS WHEN YOU NEED TO USE IT.
