  • My wife's (Kelly's) review was accurate at the time she wrote it. All of it. So, she won't be making adjustments. Also, other reviewers don't have anything to do with the positive reviews being removed, so I'd recommend that you consider writing to yelp vs. putting disclaimers in comments to your reviewers. This is a forum for individual accounts of experiences. I have zero clue as to why yelp would remit positive reviews...but I've no interest in debating that with you here. Listen up Yelp review readers: We are a family who moved away from all of our family in the Midwest, and we wanted a way to make our family feel connected to our newborn, even if only through pictures. We hired Amanda with full intention of sending birth announcements to them and our friends back home. On a number of occasions, across a variety of media, we reached out to Amanda in an attempt to get a prognosis on our pictures. No response. We later received a quick response in which she said she, "sent the link and we should check our junk mail" to which we responded that we had already done so and requested her to resend the link. No response. While we did receive our pictures and a printing credit, we didn't receive them until 11 weeks later (interestingly a day after my wife wrote her Yelp review, informed her that we contacted BBB, were going to file a complaint in small claims court, and had hired an attorney), and our daughter was almost 3 months old by the time we got them. This conducive to newborn pictures having relevance. I later learned that the pics were to be used as a surprise Father's Day present for me. Ouch. My point Amanda, and I think other reviewers here would concur, is that you were/are afforded with a precious period of time for a number of families to provide something that is/was time-sensitive...time that can't be retrieved...time that we can't get back. You state that these reviews are emotionally-charged. OF COURSE THEY ARE. These are emotionally-sensitive times in our lives. This is why we hire photographers to capture them. Regardless of the time frame in which these reviews were/have been written, the fact/perception that there is a consistent theme of tardiness and unresponsiveness is troubling and reviewers SHOULD be aware of these pervasive concerns with your services. My hope for this review is that it may inform your future practices, should you continue in photography. When all else fails, being open and honest about what clients can truly expect will never come back to bite you.
