| - I had been looking for a good shop for a long time since coming to Las Vegas in 2009. I have discovered MCR Corvettes in Nov 2014, and had them replace the rear main seal, and the head gaskets on my 2003 corvette. The oil was leaking for over a year, but I could not find any shops I trust. This shop specializes in corvettes. The shop is owned by an old guy and his son. They have been working on corvettes for a long time. I found that they are honest, charge reasonable prices, and do not try to up-sell you on un-neccesary repairs. A couple months ago I had them replace my water pump. Last week I had them replace the oil pan gaskets, upper and lower. My car is getting pretty old and various seals are failing. A lot of the seals require a lot of labor to get to them. The repairs I had done required removing the exhaust, transmission, rear axel, and removing a lot of parts under the engine. Not some thing I would ever trust with the dealerships around here, or previous shops I have encountered here. (Dealer ships charge hundreds of dollars just to look at it, not including the parts and labor for repairs. My previous experience with dealers is they cant seem to put back together simple things like an air filter housing. I certainly would not trust the dealer to remove entire sections of the car to get to a engine seal. Same goes for a lot of the shops I have dealt with here in Vegas.)
MCR Corvettes is a breath of fresh air for me, as I now have a place I can trust to get the job done and do it right. They also are not out to rip me off, or up-sell me.
One thing that is a little odd about the shop is that they only accept cash. Some people may find that inconvenient or annoying, but the owner of the shop probably has his reasons. Its his business, and he can run it however he wants. He has been in business for a long time, and has his shit together. I usually like to use credit cards, and get a little cash back, but the slight inconvenience is far outweighed by the fact that I can get my car fixed correctly, and at reasonable prices.
The work I have had done was done beautifully, and the seals look great. I also have not discovered nasty surprises after getting the car back, such as parts not put back correctly, or sloppy work, or other parts broken during repairs.
I would definitely recommend this shop for any corvette owners that are tired of all the shoddy overpriced, and dis-honest shops around here in Vegas.
