  • I like Woodman's for the variety of food products and cheaper prices, where the food is cheaper than the new Walmart Superstore down the street. You can find just about anything you need with one stop grocery shopping. However, I find the produce section lacking in freshness a lot of the time, and you can only be guaranteed fresher vegetables if you happen to be in the store when the produce is delivered. The broccoli is often limp, as well as the beans. One time I visited they had organic broccoli on sale mixed with the regular broccoli, which pretty much makes it non-organic broccoli! The asparagus does not sit in a small pool of water, and there have been many times when I have been there that it is shriveled up. The romaine lettuce is hit or miss as you can see it starting to brown/orange on the ribs of the lettuce. However, I like the idea that you can husk the corn at the store instead of making a mess at home. The fruit is also hit or miss at times. The apples are very good, however, watch out for the berries, as I have experienced mold growing on them more than once and have put them back on the shelf. Honestly, most of the chain grocery stores are hit or miss for fresh vegetables and fruit. In the summer, you are better off taking a trip to your local farmers market or growing your own vegetables. The dairy aisles are fantastic. You can find just about anything you need in the cheese aisle, as well as any other dairy product. It is hard to find staff in the store if you are looking for an item and cannot locate it, but I now have the app and I can locate my item on my own. I also like the app as it lets me know the price of the items before you visit the store, and I can enter my grocery list for my trip before I arrive to shop. The liquor store has a large variety and the checkout staff are very friendly. As far as the store appearance it is tired and old. Although the store is probably well cleaned the tile on the floor looks dirty due to its age. I've been to the newer store in Sun Prairie and it is a breath of fresh air. I hope they consider upgrading the Milwaukee store in the future, as it would be a more pleasant shopping experience. Woodman's is our main grocery shopping destination due to their prices and if you are on a budget, I would recommend going here instead of the other local grocery chains. Just be picky about the produce you select!
