  • This review is based on their Mysore and Ashtanga yoga program. Their Mysore program at the current time is extremely weak and if you are a traveling ashtangi your best bet would be to just practice alone in your hotel room. You might be ok if you went to a lead class here but I would stay clear of their mysore. I have a check list of certain bare minimum requirements that are needed for a successful Mysore program and this place didn't hit any of them. I mostly review Ashtanga yoga studios but seriously after this encounter, I have to remember what a wise teacher once told me and that is NOT to teacher hop. It's just not good for your practice. I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of one because I don't believe that the teachers are mean people or anything but just don't have what it takes to be Mysore instructors. You need more than just a 200hour training and a trip to India. There are certain people who are just naturals at this and others who are just not. The students choose the teacher and not the other way around, the fact that there was only one other student here when we arrived says it all. The other issue is that this place is a little tricky to find if you are not from the area. GPS will lead you to the mall where it's at, but then you have to drive around the mall to find it. Then once there it's more games involved with finding the right door to go in. We tried 3 different doors until we finally picked the right one. At first we were getting ready to just give up and go back to the hotel. I wonder how many other perspective students might have done just that. This is a tiny issue of logistics that could be easily fixed, if they would just make their directions more clear on their website. Telling someone who knows nothing of their studio to "go to the north room" means nothing if you are standing on the outside of the place. If they are serious about continuing this program and attracting new students this in and of itself would be a tiny fix in the right direction, but honestly speaking I don't think enough to make up for the rest of it's issues. If you want mysore and you live in this area, you better make a trip to Chicago.
