Riding ATV's in the 100+ degree desert after a night of partying?! Seriously?! HELL YES!
The ATV shuttle van picked us up at 11am. Afterward the driver drove to other casino's to pick up additional ATV riders. The shuttle van was comfortable with cold AC; however, the suspension could've used some work as we experienced a bouncy ride to the Valley of Fire State Park (VoF).
Everyone was talking and getting to know one another while we were just quiet trying to sleep. During this time a buddy and I gave each other the OMG look as we were still trying to recoup from the previous night and knowing we would be driving ATV's in the desert heat over bumps and hills! Fortunately we made it to the VoF without any incidents.
Upon arriving at the ATV location I immediately started hydrating myself with their free water. Fortunately the boss man said they would bring a cooler so there was no need to over-hydrate myself.
We were divided into an experienced and non-experienced group. The experienced group rode out first and then the non's followed.
The entire ATV tour was over 28 miles covered in 3 hours. We took three breaks where much need shade was available along with water and our lunch (sandwich / chips / potato salad).
Despite the 100+ degree temperature, the ride itself was AMAZING! Taking in nature at the VoF State Park on a 4 wheeler with excess of 40 to 50 mph was thrilling!
The staff was friendlier than a VIP Host at the casino! Instructions and rules were delivered in a cordial manner with humor. They were always encouraging folks with useful tips and congratulatory high fives. Tips are appreciated at the end of the tour with the "tip helmet" and along with the shuttle van driver upon drop-off at the casino.
I'm ready to roll out and ride again!
