| - So I was in Chicago for a conference and being cheap. This is the cheapest place I found other than the hostel in downtown Chicago. It was about $50 a night or less actually given that it booked it as a package through Expedia. This includes a mediocre continental breakfast (i.e. bagels, cereal, etc), and a shuttle to the airport. The room was nice enough, it was clean. The TV was at least 10 years old, but it worked. The bathroom was spacious. No issues with sound, I even left my window cracked open and it was quiet. The only complaints I have was how slow the guy checking me in was... no issues, just took about 5-7 minutes, and the shuttle comes around about once every 30 mins... so if you miss it, you end up waiting for the next one.
The downside to staying out here was the 45-60 minute commute between the conference to the hotel given that I had to take the blue line out to O'Hare and then catch the shuttle van to the hotel (or the same trip in reverse). However, the cheapest hotel downtown is about $100-120 a night, so you figure I saved about $100-150 at the cost of 3 hours of my time over the two days.
