Horrible service. After I graduated university, I needed to get an Ontario Health Card. I am originally from BC, and students are allowed to use the health card from their original province until they graduate.
I brought in the appropriate paperwork but that wasn't enough. The staff member 'helping' me kept on questioning why only now I was getting a health card (vs. when I first arrived in Ontario to go to school). She seemed to doubt me and made me feel like I was trying to cheat the system. Then she looked at my lease, which should have been enough to prove my address. She looked at the wrong dates on the lease and claimed my lease was expired. I tried to explain that she needed to look further down the page for the correct dates (and actually read what the lease said, vs. just skimming for any date range), and that the lease was still valid. She didn't listen to me and just kept on saying to bring in a current lease on a later date. I got sent away despite having the appropriate paperwork.
I ended up highlighting the correct dates on the lease and went to the Service Ontario centre at Bay and College - the staff there were really funny and friendly. They asked me why I had highlighted the dates and told them about my experience at the Islington location. I was in and out within minutes.
